BIOGRAPHY

Expect glitchy rhythms, skittering percussion, and sweeping ambient dreamscapes from Rotterdam-based Alberta Balsam. With releases on labels such as Dekmantel and Clone, she channels the space-age spirit of early electronica, the techy, trippy vibes of 1990s IDM, and her lifelong love of science fiction.

Her hardware-focused live sets are dynamic, featuring hard-hitting drums, modular freak-outs, and hyper-human voice mangling. All orbiting around broken beats, alien bass experiments, dreamy ambient, and avant-garde techno. Her performances have graced venues and festivals like Dekmantel, Draaimolen, De School, C12 and Paradiso.

Through her recently founded label, Terra Atomika, she continues her search for the perfect soundtrack to our distorted reality: sad, beautiful, and cathartic.

From September 2024 on she launches a special AV project with visual artist Timaeus. The show is a journey, inviting you into an imagined world where the lines between humans and nature dissolve and intertwining electro, breaks, ambient, and pop elements.

The visuals, enhanced by a unique inflatable and lighting design by Zalán Szakács, urge you to think about the implications of rapid population growth and address the reproductive issues women face, along with the inevitable choices it forces them to make.

Throughout the show, you are transported to a futuristic alternative reality where alien biology and symbiotic relationships suggest new ways of living together.
